MURS 4-Mile Range Intercom: Outdoor Call BoxThis incredibly tough intercom is an ideal system for use at a business or job site. The beefy exterior box boasts a tamper-resistant exterior with a stainless steel face. These durable features combined with the long range of this system make it a fantastic choice for a variety of demanding environments. This system is a perfect fit for construction sites, parking lots, lumber yards, golf courses, hotels/motels, gated entrances, campuses, hospitals, loading docks, amusement parks, farms, warehouses, campgrounds or anywhere else you need to communicate outdoors. This system employs the MURS (Multi-Use Radio Service) wireless frequencies which feature an amazing communication range of up to four miles!* Quality wireless communication between exposed remote locations is now possible!
The outdoor intercom call box runs on 6 "D" size batteries. Alternatively, it can be plugged in using a 12V power adapter (not included). The choice is yours!
This system has two communication modes. The first is an energy saver mode that only activates the intercom when someone makes a call by pressing the talk button. In this mode, the unit will turn itself off after a programmed amount of inactivity (up to 4 minutes). The second mode allows other MURS intercoms to communicate with the call box without this box initiating the communication. The second mode does use more power so it is suggested that you connect the call box directly to a power source.
Our call box is fully compatible with all of our MURS radios, including our
base stations and
hand-held radio walkie-talkies. When a visitor presses the "talk" button, all intercom stations on the same channel are paged and any station can respond.
Please note: The outdoor call box cannot be used by itself, but is sold separately as one single unit. It must be used in conjunction with either our
base stations or
hand-held radio walkie-talkies. We do sell individual intercom bases for each of these systems in the drop-down menu above.
Product note: This item is not pre-programmed for our MURS Base Stations or MURS Hand-held Radios. Although they may operate on channel 4 or 5, you may need to program the units together upon arrival.
Authorized by the FCC, MURS is a license-free service that allows the user to transmit voice and data. MURS also allows a maximum of 2 watts of output power which means greater range than other license-free radio services.
* Although line of site is not required, the maximum range is based on optimal conditions with minimal interference. Wireless range is affected by objects such as walls, trees, etc. Actual range may vary, depending on environment.
